Default Delete Windows Components?

Hey people...

I was just looking through add/remove programs today to see which junk i dont really need anymore, I came accross these items with names i dont even recognise, however they seem important, I have done a little googling to see what they are but no real explanations to tell me if they are vital for windows to work:

1. Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
2. Microsoft .NET Freamwwork 1.1 Hotfix
3. Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
4. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0
5. Microsoft compression client pack 1.0 for windows xp
6. Microsoft user-mode driver framework feature pack 1.0
7. MSXML 6.0 Parser

Can anyone tell me what these are for in windows and wether or not i need them, i'd like to delete them if they are not needed.

Thanks to anyone who can help!

They are not vital foe XP to work, but they are used by various pieces of software and hardware that you may have installed, such as Microsoft Office, Media Player etc. and some types of Printers.

Most Microsoft stuff is there for a reason, so I would advise not uninstalling them, as it will probably cause things to stop working. Some of the items in your list are not installed by default, so it must have been necessary for them to have been downloaded/installed for a reason.

If you dont know what they are for .... leave them alone

Well the .NET Framework ones aren't required for windows to work, however are required by some programs. But I am pretty sure that you don't need any but the most recent one (version 3.0). Not too sure about any of the others.
