Hi,

I need help in installing DirectX 9. I am using Windows XP Professional Genuine software. I have downloaded Directx from the microsoft website. When i tried to install, a message appears and it says "A cabinet file necessary for installation cannot be trusted. Please verify the Cryptographic Services are enabled and the cabinet file certificate is valid."

Thanks & Regards
Saji

Gosh, I remember this error, possibly one of the most annoying ever. And really difficult to fix.
Basically, the problem stems from when MS added cryptographic security signatures to their software. Part of the DirectX runtime dates from before this, therefore doesn't have a signature and so fails the install.

I suggest you take a look at this MS Knowledgebase article and follow the steps in there. Report back if none work.
