Default Disk defragment trouble!!

Hi, when I try to run the disk defragment tool for my 'c' drive (the only hard drive on my computer) it says it cannot perform task due to a scheduled program called 'chkdsk' needs to be run!? does anyone know how to run this program?

Default Disk defragment trouble!!

Click run in the start menu, type a space then 'cmd'. then type 'chkdsk' without inverted commas. If you need any more help than that go here
