Do I need an OPK?

Hi

I was hoping someone could help me on this subject. I have searched around on the net and cant seem to get any straight answers.

I built my mum a pc and bought a OEM Windows Xp disc. Its in a brown box and on the front it says I must use a OPK (OEM Preinstallation kit)

I found infomation on the Microsoft site and others but all I need to know is if I actually need this OPK? Microsoft seem to think I do but there has been talk on some websites saying that you dont!

Can I use this XP like normal to boot from and install? Has anyone had this version on XP where its needed a OPK or shall I just ignore it and use it like normal. I havnt broken the seal yet! lol

Thanks for your time!!

Just boot off the CD and install that way.

You use an OPK if you want to install the OS without opening it so you can supply it sealed to a customer.

Thanks for that! I feel better about breaking the seal now. So you use this "OPK" if your making an image. (Not too clued up on imaging)

Thanks again

Essentially it is a version of the CD that boots from the HDD. Too simple, but near enough.
