I am running 98SE and want to install XP on another drive. If I install Word on both operating systems, will they both be able to access the document files in a single location, or will I need to have the document files duplicated so each OS can access them separately?

XP will take at least 1.5GB of hard disk space and will need a cpu of at least 500mhz and memory to about 256mb to make it run ok. I say ok not decently or fast. My System: #

Second 10GBhard disk (which will be partitioned), 500MB RAM, Celeron 2.4Ghz. If I install word on both systems, can I have the word document files in just one place, eg in a partition on the second hard drive? |

Do you have two physical hard drives? You will have to install 98 first and will be regarded as C: You will need a hard drive big enough to accomodate both operating systems on the one drive. Forget about the 10gb drive it's just not big enough. |

10gb would be fine for 98SE and 10gb would be fine for XP but then you have to consider programs you may install plus jpeg files, music etc.
If you get into the realm of Mpeg files the drive/s will fill up faster than a sink with the plug in. If you partition the drives you will lose a few mb doing that. It all depends what you want to do with them mate. |

Ok in that case I would split the first hdd into 10gb for 98 and 30gb for XP.
Use the othe physical drive for storage. |

98 will be C:
XP could be E: You could have a folder on the other drive called programs, you can run them from there but they will install to C or E depending on where you want to send them. Are you with me? |
