Default Dual booting Windows 7 RC and my current Windows XP

Hi,

I wish to dual boot Windows 7 RC and my current Windows XP. As far as I'm concerned, if I create a new partition and install Windows 7 on that, it will work fine as a dual boot right?

Since the RC expires just like the beta, if I were to remove Windows 7 from my hard drive when it expires, would it screw anything up? I've heard of stuff like the bootmanager, but I'm not too sure what it exactly does.

And I've read on the Microsoft Site when I went to download it, it said, the computer would start shutting down every two hours after if expired, or something similar. If I only booted into XP and waited until Windows 7 was released, would it affect the shutting down?

One last question, I'm running XP 32bit. Does it matter whether I get 32bit or 64bit Windows 7?

Thanks.

In order: yes, probably not if the new bootloader is removed properly, yes, no but you should get 64-bit.

Well, how one one go about properly removing the bootloader?
Oh and the one about the shutdowns, my question probably wasn't worded right. I wanted to know if my Windows XP would start shutting down, or would it remain normal, with only the Windows 7 shutting down.

Thanks for the reply.

If you wipe the 7 partition the XP bootloader should take over, otherwise you can just pop in a Win XP cd and repair it.

Shutdowns won't affect XP.

As far as I'm aware the Official Proper Release of Win7 is expected before the Release Candidate expiry anyway, so if you're only using it until it's released and then you're going to buy a copy, it shouldn't matter at all.

Straight upgrade is possible I think.

^ That is true, but you never know if they run into problems, they might not release on time. Very unlikely though.
