I own a Elonex XP media center edition 2005, recently I tried to reprogramme the pc as it has a "restore factory settings" I have done this may times with no problem, however I partioned the drives and with some advice i was told what to do, but this never worked and now it says
windows root>\system32\hal.dll. please reinstall file this will not even get to a log in screen I copied the file from the laptop and placed in the the CD drive but it will not read, a guy at work looked at it and has said he can not change the bios it seems to have locked down and advised to remove the battery from the mother board to reset and he can reprogramme it. Am i correct that there is only one battery in a pc ? as i did remove it and still not working. I did try to look in the PC but as the drives but as the pc is all in one everything is in the monitor and it is difficult to do. Any help would be be appreacted |

Ok haunted, did you remove all power leads and turn off power to the computer from the mains before you taken this battery on the motherboard out ? if not it wouldn't have worked. Try this and it should work fine mate let me no.

Yes i did remove all the power leads and the battery was removed I have just put that battery back in after since my last post and plugged it back in sadly this is still the same |
