i took a hard drive out of a crappy old hp pavilon, and put it in my custom computer, the hard drive worked fine in the hp, but when i put it in my other computer, it detects it in bios, but then it'll pop up a black screen saying "error loading opertating system", dunno why, its a maxtor hard drive and as i said it worked fine in the other computer, i've got windows xp pro sp2 on it, and its been working fine for weeks since i put windows on it, any ideas

agreed i think you need to re-install an operating system on it so that it has the correct drivers

i have a 250 gig western digital, i've only had it for half a year but the computer wont detect it anymore, is it dead or is it repairable, if so, i could use that as the slave, which i tried anyway, but i dont know how to get it workin, if its even possible

If you have a spare HDD, back up all the data you need using the HP, then reinstall windows on the custom and replace all of your data.
