Hi and hello to everyone.
I keep on receiving this error message "\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM" in my Windows XP computer.
For the 1st time I received this message and I repaired my computer using Windows XP installation CD.
After 3 to 4 days I received this kind of message back and I repaired my computer back using Windows XP installation CD.
For the 3rd time the problem repeated after 1 week and I did the same thing again.
Last week the problem repeated again after 5 days and I re-formated my whole system and turned off the Windows Update Service, but now the problem happening again.

So,why is it like this and what should I do for this?

For your information, my computer's specification is like this:-

- Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2
- Intel Dual Core E2180 Processor
- 160GB SATA Hard Drive
- SATA DVD-RW
- Floppy Drive
- 1GB DDR2-667 RAM

Please help me on this. Thank you.

I'm assuming the full error message is :
"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt
C:\windows\system32\config\system"

This being the case and the fact that this has happened several times and following a reformat, I would suspect the problem lies with your Hard Drive.

It would be a good idea to visit the drive manufacturer's website and grab their diagnostic utilities to check the integrity of the drive.
