I like to arrange the icons on my desktop in a particular pattern but it seems that every few days they are rearranged into a group in the left hand side.
When I used XP Pro I had a little application installed that remembered the preferred layout and could be use to reset the layout after it had been rearranged. Is there anyway that I can either lock my preferred arrangement or reinstate it after it has been disorganised? |

Right click the desktop and in the options there you can turn off 'auto arrange' sounds like it could be that.

Thanks for the suggestion but that is already off.
This rearrangement takes place usually when Windows Upgrade downloads something or some alteration is made to the display drivers. Unfortunately it seems to happen two or three times a week and is becoming a pain. |

Ah, sounds like it does it when changing resolution, that is to fit all the icons in if you drop down. It is normal.
Just stop updating your display drivers so frequently or put up im afraid. |

I'm not sure what is happening to make the changes - I was only guessing at the cause. It seems that software somewhere is always updating. I am resigned to the fact that this will sometimes happen.
What I am really after is a small piece of free/cheap software that can reset my chosen arrangement. |
