Very random problem, just started occuring out of the blue, I logged on and a message appeared stating RunDLL as APP had encountered a problem and needed to close. I clicked Don't Send. Explorer.exe then enecountered a problem and needed to close. I clicked Dont Send. Then nothing. I pressed CTRL-ALT-DELETE and guess what...Windows Task Manager had encountered a problem and...you get the picture. Can anyone help?

This is probably a problem with the registry. It could certainly be caused by some spyware or too much.

Have you got any anti-spyware/ad-aware apps on the pc?

What does just rebooting the pc do firstly?

Returns the same errors. In Safe Mode the PC is fine, which leads me to believe it could be a driver problem, but the problem only started today.

You're right, it could be driver related.

If the problem is the registry, it could be anything-related.

I'm gonna get Evilfantasy in on this, he's more experienced than I at this type of issue.

Bear with me and I'll contact him.

Have you ran spyware/virus scans? From what I have always seen this is (for lack of a better word) a cryptic or generic error message. Like Alex said could be any number of things. Have you installed anything lately? Troubleshooting to "try" and narrow it down is the only thing to do. Do you have your XP CD?

Well I do have some news that rules out a virus problem. I ran a directory services restore mode on boot up which gave me Safe Mode with all the features of normal windows. I'll try virus scans when I'm back on the machine. Nope, not installed anything lately, and yeah I do have my XP CD.
