Default File description not shown

Hello,

Anyone can help me regarding a file decription that doesn't show. For example when we do a mouse hover on an icon, we can see the file name/file description for that icon. But on my user's case, it doesn't show at all in any icon may it be application icon or desktop icons. I already checked under Tools-Folder Options-View and "Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items" has been ticked already but still it won't show the description.

Hope somebody can help me on this. Thanks a lot

Also what OS are you using and where is this screenshot from? The desktop or in My Computer or where?

Easy peasy. That's not a file description not showing, that's a file with no description (or what we in the trade call an "extension"). If you end up working out where it came from and what it is then you can rename it to have the right extension and it'll open properly when double-clicked. Alternatives, if you fail to work out the origin, involve deletion.

It actually looks like a Win 2000 My Computer Icon.

Install:
Tweakui.zip <<Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000
TweakUI.exe << Windows XP

Unzip the file or Run the exe and install TweakUI. There is a Repair setting in TweakUI that will rebuild your desktop icons. Try that and see if it helps.

I thought it was Win 2000 Server or possibly NT Server.. Judging by AD icon on the Desktop.

We are using Windows 2000. The file description not showing is not only on a specific icon or file in the desktop. It happens in all including the Applications I opened.

Another sample is shown in the link below. Thanks a gain.
