I have a HP Pavillion Notebook,dv 1000 with XP (SP-2) OS. In the folder options only the option of 'do not show hidden folders', is available. How can I activate the show hidden file option?

Go to registry editor by running regedit in the run box.

Go to this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Advanced

In the right hand area, double click hidden and change the value to 1. Now you’re all set to go. Check it in your tools menu if the changes have taken effect.

i don't know if the above is true but i know it as:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer

when you go there you'll see 'nofolderoptions' change the value to zero or delete it. if there is nothing there goto :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Policies\Explorer

you should find it in one of the two places, once you delete it and restart your computer you should be able to access the folder options again, unless a virus is active which has a loop to create the key and set it to 1, then you'll have to get rid of the virus first, use kaspersky or nod32, or if you are looking for something free avg should do the trick but i'm not so sure.
