Just found a file called:

c:\Windows\System32\Logfiles\WMI\trace.log

that was 38 Gb in size! Turns out it was created by an aborted run of Bootvis from Micro$oft, and was left open.

If you have this file, run Bootvis again to close it and then delete it, as it grows without bounds!

I should think you're whole hard disk will be running faster now, cause that file must have caused some major fragmenting.

Would it be on Vista 64 and if yes, how do I find out if I have it going?

As far as I can see, it will only be there if you have ever run BootVis, so I doubt it. You could search for any huge files though!

Nothing to do with BootVis then.

How big is your hard drive?

Do you have a lot of movies or photos?

Simple option is to buy a bigger hard disk.

Vista 64 natively takes up very little more space then its 32 bit cousins.

Doesn't Vista keep mirroring things and gobbling disk space then? (ie, System Restore)
