Default help with backing up data, PLEASE !

hi all, hope someone can help me, i wish to do a clean install of windows vista 64bit over my existing windows xp, the only data i wish to keep is my outlook express e mails, is there any way i can download these files from outlook express to a cd rom and transfer them to vista once loaded ?
if there is a way please advise how to do it, thanks
