thanks ... when i go to edit boot.ini it shows this
[boot loader]
timeout=1
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
i presume it is the bottom one i delete seing as it says no execute?
just double checking so i dont have to re-install xp if i get it wrong

When you boot you get the choice of two, is it the top one or the bottom one that boots the OS you want to keep?
