i am on home edition and am using a emachines 2210, 2.60ghz, the other day there was a messege saying the virtual memory was lo and my pc is running fairly slow, i am doing virus scans, adware, malware, spyware, but nothing has come up,

my RAM is only 376mb and my HDD is 40gb, but i have only used half of my space on the hard disk drive,

any ideas??

Check your Virtual Memory Settings :

Control Panel/System/Advanced, click Settings/Performance/Advanced ... by default XP sets these at 2.5 times your installed RAM .... for example if your RAM is 384mb, then 2.5 x 384 = 960mb.

You only need to change your virtual memory if windows tells you it is low and it has nothing to do with your actual RAM.

You're misinterpreting what I'm saying.

When your actual RAM runs out you start to use Virtual Memory which is a smart name for hard drive space.

So unless you have a low amount of real RAM or XP is telling you have low Virtual Memory you really need not worry or change anything.
