The problem I have is that the hibernate function on my windows XP does not work properly. I have an ASUS motherboard, if thats any help (which model, I have no idea).
Anyway, the problem is that whenever I go to Start Menu - Turn off computer - (shift) Hibernate, it works for the first stage. I get the regular blue background with the windows logo, saying "prepare to hibernate". Then I get a black screen with the logo and saying "Hibernating" with the progress beads... This is all fine, and the computer actually hibernates, i.e. the computer shuts down and monitor says no signal. But for only 1 second!!! ![]() Then it just immediately restarts, and enters regular startup with the resuming windows... I have tried to force shut it down, so it stays hibernated, but that requires precise timing, and I usually get it wrong, resulting in no hibernate, or the blue-green BIOS screen the next time it starts up. ![]() So, any help on how to make it STAY HIBERNATED would be great! Thanks |

go into your bios and look for something that says something like 'loss of ac power: previous state' and change it to something like 'off' or 'do nothing'.
hope that helps |
