| Hi all. I am trying to set up a home network and i can not see my dauther Laptop What I did so far is use Network setup Wizard on the Desk Top (main Cunputer) that would be the host PC and did the samething on a laptop except that one was setup as a Laptop on a network. could someone tell me what I am missing>>>> We both using XP and both are behind a router (Linksys WRTSL54GS) |

| Are your computers running a firewall aswell, if they are make sure your daughters laptop will accept the connection from your computer

| Thanks for the reply,,,,,yes we are both running Norton firewall.....Should still be able to see the Laptop even so if it is protected don't you think.... I'm I suppose to map it also???? |

| When I networked my laptop and desktop I had to enter the ip addresses of my laptop and desktop into norton on either machine, for some reason when you run the home networking wizard it doesn't configure norton to accept messages from 1 computer

| Yes both PC and LT are (full trust) in Norton also I can see from both that they are setup in NORTON Where do I go after I finish setting up network, I went to explore/mynetworkplace/ and nothing there for the laptop. | Just 1 last thought are they both running on the same workgroup ie "mshome" ect....

After going into my network places on the left under the network tasks header is view workgroup computers, if you click that all being well your daughters laptop should be there My System: -

| Under Workgroup computer, PC only see mine Under Workgroup computer, LT seeing both mine and hers |

| I am sure it is norton on your daughters laptop that is blocking your computer, in norton firewall config menu, goto networking and click add, enter your pc's ip address there
