Hey guys,
I recently bought a new laptop. Now I wish to connect it to my older one (both are running Vista) through the wireless router so that I can share the files. From research, I've learned how to find the other computers by going to "network" in the start menu. My only problem is, when I go to view the other's files, it asks for a Username and password. I have no idea what kind of username/password it's asking for. Please share any info you might have. Also, I know that once I do manage to get in, it will only show the files selected to be shared. Do you guys have know how I can browse through all of the files. Thanks guys, TBD |

Hi Briancmitchell,
First - you can see each computer from the other computer correct? When you want to share between to computers that are not in a domain such as on a home network you need to do some things - 1) Create a user ID on both computers with the same id and password. 2) The ID you made has to have rights on both computers to the directory or folder that you want to move files between, it has to have create rights, I would not give a generic user id full rights to the folders. 3) When you connect to the share you use this format: \\targetcomputername\share and you would use this for the id: targetcomputername\userid This should get you where you want to go... Hope this helps...
