Hello folks,

How can i stop my PC from updating ? I've got Vista Home Premium.
It can be such a pain in the a..., because while updating i'm not to switch off my pc and so on. Pretty awkward when you have to be on your way...you know what i mean.

Or shouldn't i block Windows updates in the 1st place?

How will i ever be able to tell important updates from unimportant ones?

well I recommend you keep the updates turned on, however I think (like in XP) you can set them to only install when you tell it too. try going to control panel>security center>manage settings for: automatic updates. it probably won't be the same as that, but I think it will be similar, but as I don't have Vista myself, I can't point you to exactly the right place. Once there, have a look through the settings for the different options settings for automatic updates, and decide which one you prefer the look of. However, if you turn automatic updates off, I strongly recommend you check the Microsoft update site atleast once a week.
