im selling my laptop and i need to reformat it. i already used a CD key more than 3 times so i dont think its valid any more. how do i reformat it without having to reinstall everything?

You cant, if you format you have to Install everything again, that's how it works.

If you just want to format and sell it clean a Windows CD will get to the partition/format bit without a key.

If you are needed to re-install so the PC has an OS on it for the new owned the key should work, if it doesn't a quick call to Microsoft will sort that.
