HP Compaq NC4010 Need Windows Admin Rights Back Hey there... Its been a long time posting.. But I was hoping I could get some help from you guys..
My friend recently purchased a used laptop.. its an HP Compaq 4010. Its a very small, portable laptop.
the reason it was handed over to me was that he can't get administrative rights on his computer.
he has made a guest account, and the default guest account is open, but the Administrative login does not appear on the welcome screen.. Here is what I have tried:
I know there is a way to unlock it so long as you can get in.. but trying to boot into Safe mode gives me a error message that only blinks.. one of those 0000000000x00 something.. its too quick or else I'd look it up/post it.
Second, This laptop does not come with a CD/DVD reader.
Now, I have the... add on? the.. dashboard (wrong term) that it sits on giving it a CD/DVD drive, but upon boot up I only get the option for HDD or NIC.
Is there anyway I can get the administrative rights?
I am pretty tech savvy, I have Windows 2003 enterprise install disc at my disposal if I could be able to use a login created from 2003, but I don't even know if I could access the HP's login's or settings..
The only other thing I can think of is to take out the HDD from the laptop, plug it into one of my fancy gizmo's and reformat it on my computer. but still trying to get XP back on the HDD would be a pain in the neck... Lol
Any other suggestions besides those two? and would the Enterprise 2003 idea even work? |
