Default Im all messed up

Hi,

Here is my problem.

A friend opened an email on my comp and got a virus on it.

I downloaded AVG and thought it was gone.

It wasn't.

So I went and bought Avanquest systemsuite 8.

I put the CD in and started to follow the directions and now I cant even boot up my system.

I in on my laptop trying to figure out my problem on my other comp..

Moved to Windows Operating Systems forum.

If someone in here can help you get it to boot then go HERE and follow the directions there for ridding the malware.

did you fully install the cd? was you promp with a similar message " restart required to complete installation" if so was this the last time you were able to boot your comp?

exactly what happened.

I put the cd in and it started to do its thing.

it said it would have to restart which it automatically did.

now it wont boot up and it stays at the blue avanquest screen

that is what happened...

I put the CD in and it did its thing...

then is automatically restarted the comp

now Im stuck on a blue avanquest screen

Turn on the PC, press F8 every second or so until you see a menu screen.

Boot in safe mode, login as admin, then remove the program in add/remove programs in control panel.

Sorry wont reboot even in safe mode....

Not in any mode.....

Then it's time to get the XP CD out and do a repair.

Boot from the CD and select the second repair option.

When I bought the comp, second hand, it didn't come w/the CD...

any way to get one online.......
