Question Install XP from DOS, running vista though =S

ok I followed this.. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307848
and you can just skip down to
--Starting the Windows XP Setup program at a command prompt--

and if you read step 8, it say that my computer should restart and resume the XP setup, BUTTT.. It's not, now I have Vista on here so I'm thinkin that it's becuz they run different MBR (Master Boot Record) but idk, does anyone know how to get around this.. or what i should do, all the setup files are just sittin on my other partition.. is there a way i can just load that up? (and I've already tried to VistaBootPRO and chose to run off of that drive but doesn't work... just restarts the computer!!!) what should I do? Can a maybe make a bootable floppy that supports hard drives and tell it what to boot up off of that hard drive?? Just someone help..

I've been tryin to install XP for like 4 days STRAIGHT.. NO SLEEP.. NOTHIN (well maybe some sleep but then I'm back on the computer again)!!!:D

Hi Randy

Welcome to TCF

Can I just ask why you are messing about like this?

Just set the first boot sequence in the bios to cdrom.

XP will then auto install after you; "Press any key to boot from CD"

The days of having to boot off a floppy are well gone mate, even some versions of 98SE could install off the cd

Agreed, stop messing around with this and boot off the CD in your Bios.

It takes like 2 seconds.
