my pc thats running vista sometimes once in a while just disconnects, so i restart my router and my internet is still down on pc, so i get my laptop out running XP and it picks up my wireless straight away. can anyone help me why vista's crap at wireless

Doesn't sound like a Vista problem. Do you use a wireless network card in your desktop computer?

yes its a netgear wireless and windows has loaded the drivers on it

Try going into the Router's configuration settings and changing the channel.
If the problem is caused by interference ... i.e. a cordless phone or other household device, this may cure it.
