I got my new laptop about a week ago and I've been trying to customise it and iron out the niggling issues. But I have some I need some help with.

1. How do you permanently delete the folders in My Documents on Vista? You know like Search, Favorites, Documents, Download. Everytime I delete them, they come back.

2. A little wireless icon appears everytime I boot up in the system tray icon in the bottom right. I've gone to MSConfig and turned off everything I've wanted to but the option of turning this is not there and it is highly annoying because it's only purpose is to literally tell me whether my wireless is on or not and I already know if it is or not.

3. I've been trying to watch movies and video files and I've tried VLC media player, DivX player and WMP but they all do the same thing. Every minute or so the video will freeze for a second and the pictures for about 10 seconds before it returns to normal and even then sometimes, the sound is distorted and out of sync. And it's not the files because I can skip back to the part where it froze and it will play fine, it's just random when it does it.

I believe these are protected folders so if you delete them thew will be recreated. If nothing is in them then they aren't taking up any space so might just have to live with it.

Right click the Task Bar and choose 'Properties' then select 'Notification Area' then 'Customize'. You can choose to 'Always Hide' that icon.

Not sure about that. Have you gone to Windows Updates and checked to see if new software is available for your video/audio?

The video/sound issue could be to do with drivers, have you checked them?

Right, I've been trying to resolve this video/audio playback issue for a long time now and can't figure it out. Just randomly, could be 5 minutes apart or 30 seconds but whenever it is, the video freezes for about 10 seconds and the audio skips slightly and after the 10 seconds everything is back to normal, the odd time the sound will be out of sync but that is only very rarely.

I can't shed any more light on this, is this a common problem?

Oh and yes, I've updated all drivers.
