| The reason is that WIndows is probably waiting for programs to end before it will let you shut down. You can do the following procedure that should speed things up: Backup the registry first!
Highlight the ‘WaitToKillAppTimeout’ value. Set it to ‘1000′. Now highlight the ‘HungAppTimeout’ value Set it to ‘1000′ also. Navigate to ‘HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop’ Highlight the ‘WaitToKillAppTimeout’ value. Set it to ‘1000′. Now highlight the ‘HungAppTimeout’ value. Set it to ‘1000′ also. Navigate to ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\’ Highlight the value ‘WaitToKillServiceTimeout’ Change this value to ‘1000.’ Close the Registry Editor and restart the computer to flush the registry with the new settings.
