When I load up my laptop and it comes up with the windows password screen.It tells me it's locked so can't get to type in my password. How do I get around it.

Is the Vista genuine? Did you activate it in the required time limit?

Yes should of said I put a password on so no one else could use it.

You're not being clear, is it locked or have you just forgotten the user password?

I remembered the password but it keeps telling me i'm locked.

Did you try starting in safe mode, then going into User Account and changing it from there?
I'm am not that familiar with Vista yet but that is how I would have done it in XP
