Default Looping inspecting hardware

Hi people, my head hurts from this current problem i have been trying to sort out all day long. Anyway i have built a PC i come to put operating system on it and it inspects the hardware etc and then gets me to set up windows XP on the hard drive, so i do it then formats and installs windows after that then reboots. Thats nornal and all is good, but then the computer just gos straight to booting from disk and starts inspecting my hardware again to do the same thing, instead of going to install windows XP, i have tried disabling the disk drive after this to try boot from HDD only and it asks for system disk. but im going round in circles and its very very furstrating after trying different things. so i now linked the hard drive to my PC as a slave and it appears windows is there but cant get to the nice blue install screen where i type the licience key in. Hope ivebeen precise enough for someone to help me out. I'm gona be bald soon if this happens often. Cheers Craig

Thanks Dave for your reply, i tried what you said after your post. I still could not get anywhere but i had been on it all day so i retired to bed after that. Anyway with a fresh head i started messing with the jumpers on my hdd and it sorted it, to be honest total school boy error but when you have been on something so long your decsion making becomes bad. I duplicated the post because i did actually think it could also be a hardware problem, Thanks again, Craig.
