I have resolved a problem i was having with [D] drive, when i inadvertently installed a 2nd
copy of WXP Home on my 'D' drive. I have solved that, but now those software installations which don't give me the option of browsing an installation to C drive, automatically install on 'D'. How do i make 'C' drive the default to install to? Thanks in advance for all suggestions. |

Go to Control Panel there goto administrative tools there you will find a option to set your primary drive go there and set it C: and you are done.

You could do it, but it's not recommended!
Take a look here: How can I change the System partition drive letter in Windows XP ? |

The question is about doing it the other way around if that makes sense. So that by default applications install to a different drive, not just changing the letter of the same drive. My System: FordyPC

this may be useful, if I understand what you're asking. you may also be able to make your D:\program files dir a symlink to C:\program files.
