hi guys,

may i ask if it is possible to do a documents backup or drive backup via a shortcut on the desktop

i have been told that a shortcut on the desktop that only needs a double click would duplicate the contents of a certain folder say "my documents" and duplicate it say on "E:" a portable device

is a program required or is it a simple shortcut?

thanks guys

Welcome to the forums!

Plug in your external device, then in 'My Computer' right click it > create shortcut.

You should then end up with a desktop shortcut.

During the course of the day i will be adding and changuing lots of data on various spreadsheets and databases

is it possible to have a shortcut that requires a double click, and thus copies all documents in a specified location onto another specified location

We'll if you save all the files you are changing in one folder on your PC, then at the interval you choose drag the folder to the shortcut on the desktop for the external drive or whatever.

If you want an automatic solution you will need some software, but, in my opinion, how long does it really take to drag a folder from one place to another.
