I have this problem where I delete a file but some shortcuts for certain parts of that specific file stay on my PC. I can't delete these shortcuts or folders because the stupid computer says "Folder location cannot be found" (or something similar to that message), but keep in mind that I removed the program and all of its contents before I discovered these "Extra Files."

These "Extra Files" don't take up any memory (they all say that their size is 0KB)... they're just dead weight!! I would just like to know how to remove these ANNOYING FILES permanently!!

Try booting into safe mode and deleting them there.

I really don't think that you need to boot into linux. At least not until you try using Safe Mode.

To enter safe mode please do the following:
  1. Restart your computer.
  2. When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
  3. Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
  4. Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.
  5. Do whatever tasks you require and when you are done reboot to boot back into normal mode.
Then log in with your normal Admin account. Safe mode will allow you to delete files and do other things that you cannot do in Normal Mode in Windows.

You should just be able to find the files that you want to delete and just delete them with nor problems.

I am also not quite sure what files you are trying to delete. I take it you mean files that were left over after you tried to remove a program through Add or Remove Programs?
