I have a problem and looks like there's no way out...I start my PC , after bios processor and ddr informations, instead of windows xp logo it appears a black screen with an horizontal white stripe similar like that one when you're starting recovery console. It takes more than 10 minutes to disappear and windows xp logo to appear. What should I do?That white stripe is really annoying and can wait 15 min for windows to start!

Download Piriform CCleaner and install it.

Navigate to Registry (On the left) and click Scan for Issues. Then select Fix Selected, back up if you wish but not neccessary.

Reboot and see if that's made any difference.

If not, go into the BIOS on startup and get it to boot from CD before HDD, then insert XP disc and reboot.

Select option to repair the install.

Wow.. very surprised even repairing windows didn't fix - let alone reformat and install..

    Must be a hardware issue..

Can you list your specs please?

    Could have affected the PSU.

Have you tried using a different one?

Well I would storngly reccommend trying a different PSU.

Even if you don't have one they're very cheap really.
