Default Need Help with start-up programs

Hi, I have Vista Home Premium and whenever I switch on the laptop, the magnifier, on-screen keyboard and the voice narrator always load-up. I then close them when they start-up and whenever I restart the laptop again, they also show up.

So can someone tell me how to disable them forever so that I would not see them again when I start the laptop since they consume me time from loading!!!

click start, then type 'msconfig' without the quotes, then click the 'startup' tab, then look in the list for the magnifier, on-screen keyboard and the voice narrator (may be worded differently) and untick the boxes then click ok and restart.

Default Need Help with start-up programs

StartUpLite is a lightweight program that can disable or remove all known unnecessary startup entries from your computer and thus quicken the startup procedure of your system.

@Spencer2004 Tried what you suggesed but they are not listed there. Does that mean that they have been removed? Cannot restart now due to having updates and anti-virus running in the background and do not wish to stop them.

@evilfantasy 10q for your reply but am not that much interested in installing extra programs, I prefare to find another way such as the one suggested by Spencer2004

It's a [FONT=Arial][SIZE=2]200 Kb exe, runs from the desktop. Just scan, remove what is unnecessary and delete the exe.

Do you have HijackThis installed? Post a log so I can see the services and tell you where to find them to disable them.

Default Need Help with start-up programs

Vista: Use Defender to Monitor and Disable Startup Programs

1. Open Windows Defender.

2. Select Tools.

3. Click Software Explorer.

4. Select Startup Programs from the Category dropdown.

5. Review the programs in the left pane. Selecting a program will display information about it in the right pane.

6. To remove a program from startup, select the program from the left pane and click the Remove button. Use the Disable button for programs you want to temporarily stop from starting when Windows starts. To make them active again, simply select the program and click the Enable button.

* After removing a program from startup, you probably will want to stop it from running during your current session. Simply select Currently Running Programs from the Category dropdown. Next, select the program and click the End Process button.

@ Evilfantasy I will try your idea as soon as I go home.

I do not want to use programs to delete such things cos once I had experiance with them on my old PC and deleted things that I should not have. So better not to mess with them.
