Hi guys, im actually an xp person but,

im fixing vista for a client for free and im kinda at a stand still.

what seems to have happened is:

this computer is running two hard drives and one of the hard drives is dead, and it seems to be the vista hard drive.
i took the hard drive down to the computer shop and the hard drive is confirmed stuffed, no longer working.

i rang the client up and they want Vista installed on the other hard drive the good one, the one thats working. now this should be easy right, nope for me wrong. I just want to scrap the hard drive that is working and install Vista on it and the people will have their computer back.

i cannot get the systems CD Rom "Vista Disk" to boot on start up.
I press F10 and enter Bios and chose CD to boot up fist but it is not working.

on boot up screen its saying the following:
--------------------------------
Reboot and select proper Boot Device
or insert boot media in selected Boot Device and press a key
--------------------------------

I cannot get past this and at a stand still on what to do.

Some advice would be very grateful thanks.
I did think of getting a program to scap the hard drive then try again but then again it mite not boot the disk on start up.
thx
Cheers.

check if the hard drive is running from slave or master then change the jumper setting.
