| Well I got a SATA HDD today and about two months ago I download WINXP Pro from my colleges MSDNAA. Its a academic program where you can get software. Anyways I burned the ISO image to a CD-R. I installed the SATA HDD to my PC. I took the old 30GB HDD out that has WINXP on it. So I put the CD in and tell the computer to boot from CD. Well I get a message that says something along the lines of "BOOT DISK FAILURE. Please place system CD or something in the computer. Now my other problem is that my SATA HDD doesn't even show up under My Computer with the other drives. I ran a Belarc Report and I see the 80GB HDD, but I don't see it under My Computer as a drive. Did I burn the CD wrong or something or there something else I have to do in order to do a fresh install of winxp pro. Also I tried hooking the SATA HDD to the onboard SATA and to the SATA card I bought. I have a COMPAQ PASARIO desktop PC. OK So bottom line is 1. I got a 80GB HDD SATA 2. I have a legit copy of WINXP Pro 3. I have both a onboard SATA and a SATA card. 4. Computer was bought in 2002. Any help please. |

| Can't edit, but I know the HDD is good, because I just initalized it and partitioned it for the 80GB......so now I tried to boot cd and I get BOOT DISK FAILURE insert system CD. Is it the winxp cd or am I still doing something wrong. What do I need to do now in order to get WINXP PRO to work. |

| You might need to update the drivers for your sata ports, go to the compaq website and have a look

| What if I am running the SATA drive off the SATA card. The SATA card has updated drivers. Shouldn't it work now since I can see my drive. Also what should I put the drive as Primary or Logical. I put it as Primary. |
