Hi guys, I have been using notepad++ as my text editor alternative but right now it seems to not show the icon for the .txt .cfg or any other associated file...
does anybody knows which setting in the registry is the one in charge of that? (if i setup notepad.exe as default editor the icons work without problem....) |

The file extensions are probably associated with your default editor.
You can do one of three things: 1) Change all the icons manually 2) Change the file associations in control panel 3) Make notepad.exe your default editor permanently as you mention Number 2 is the only option that allows you to remain using the same applications, so thats an easy one to go with. If you don't know how to change them just post back

well i have notepad++ as my default editor, and when i double click any of the mentioned files it does open correctly with the program i want but it seems to be that the registry setting of that program for the icons changed or is miss-configured...
Im just wondering if somebody knows how can i fix it manually since np++ doenst need installation to work. :) |

After poking around i have found out that if I have the txt file open with notepad i can changes the icons to whatever i want but as soon as i put it to open with notepad++ the icon changes to generic and there is no way to change it (through folder options>file assoc...)
So basically i believe is a problem with notepad++ executable... |
