my computer cuts out after the formatting part reaches 100%
How you could be having all these problems simultaneously is beyond me!

Please just explain what exactly you are having a problem with.

Default NTLDR is missing!!

My computer has worked fine for over 3 years but i decided i needed more ram to speed up football manager.i bought it off ebay but when it arrived it'd been damaged in postage.to save me time sending it back i stupidly tried to bend it back into shape and fit it into my pc. i thought that the worst that could happen would be that it didn't work. after fitting it i put the pc on and it began making loud beeps i switched it off, took out the new ram and put it on again and this msg came up <windows root>\system 32\ntoskrnl.exe is missing or corrupt please reinstall. i have tried to reinstall windows xp with the disk but every time i get upto the formatting 100% section it cuts out! and to top it all off it now says NTLDR is missing press ctrl+ALT+DEL to restart. i am getting very frustrated because everything i try is failing! some help from an expert would be extremely appreciated. i don't know much about the insides of pc's i just want it to boot up and work!!! thankyou

Windows XP users
  1. Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
  2. When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
  3. Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
  4. Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
  5. You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password.
  6. Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter "E". This letter may be different on your computer.

    copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
    copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\
  7. Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.
