Default Opinions of Vista?

I want know what you think of Vista?

I have a new laptop, with Vista home premium, and i love it. Not as bad as the critics made it out to be.

One thing i would say, is to make most of the GUI and features, you need at least 2 GB. Currently running at 1.3Gb used, thats just firefox open.

Totally, 2GB minimum for Vista.

That's the only bad thing about it I guess, you need a current machine, if you have an older machine stick with XP.

What makes me laugh is people complaining about that issue, yet people rarely complain about having to upgrade to run the latest games...

That's very true Dave, and also, my brother got home premium on his laptop, and he preferes it to XP, so I might be getting it sooner than I thought, however I am still trying to decide if it would be better to wait for windows 7 or stick with vista.

I highly doubt Windows 7 will be out on time, so you may be waiting a bit for it mate.

Like Vista when it first comes out. Wait at least 6 months before buying it. So the bugs can at least be looked at.

And yeah Dave, people complain about having to pay about £120 for Vista, when they go out and buy £200 worth of graphics card.

Im looking for more things to add to the usage. Lol. Little extras.

Vista is stable enough, but IMO there is no good reason to upgrade to it, from XP. There are few definite advantages other than eye candy, to justify the upgrade cost.
If you buy a new PC and it comes with Vista, that's fine, but there is a learning curve and it takes some time to find your way around all the system settings.
Also SP2 is essential, especially fore file copying .... which is dead slow on the original release.

My summing up would be ... stick to XP if you have an existing machine, especially if the specs are not too current and only consider Vista on a new box, as it cannot do anything more than XP and it is not faster or easier to use, despite all the hype
