Default OS disaster!

So I was installing windows updates and restarted my computer. When I turned it back on..."no operating system installed"
It wont even let me use my recovery disks, when they load up it either gets an error message or freezes! so yeah, no pc for me for a while!

any ideas on whats up and how to fix it?

Hard disk could be dead, or it could be a problem with the way your drives are connected. You can see the appropriate section of any PC building guide to see how it's done. But then, that wouldn't really explain why it did that suddenly. Worth a shot though.

What actually happens when you boot up ? .... i.e. do you get an error message, if so what exactly does the message say and are there any numbers listed ?

Have you tried booting in Safe Mode ?

It does sound as thiugh your Hard Drive may have a fault .... see if you can see the drive in bios.
