Hi ! I am using windows XP2.My system configuration is
  • Hard disk 250
  • Ram 1 gb
  • Giga bite mother board
  • Anti virus-->quick heal
  • am using BSNL WLL internet service.
since morning My system is being restarted again again. So i inserted the OS XP cd and -->Repaired the present OS (which is inC drive) .The system laiunched all programs after installation ,but immediately it started showing the error with a blue screen as there is error . No program is functioning. Why? Why is it happeing. And i also wanted to say that my screen display the color in pale yellow from 15 days.Is it also problem of OS or Power fluctuation?

As it show the error i again installed OS in other drive(F) .As i installed a fresh copy of windows,it's Ok now with this fresh OS .Now i wanted to know why the OS in C drive is like that?
How can I completely remove that old OS ?
I wanted to intall the Vista in the place of that OLd OS and use the newly installed XP Os also ?Can i do it?
Now my screen color is OK .But why it 's shown in pale yellow still morning? Is it problem of low voltage of power supply?

If you're using a VGA cord, it could be as easy as a pin being loose or broken, causing the screen to be yellow. It could also be the monitor's color balance.

If you want to get rid of the old C: os, just install Vista as normal, but make sure to select the C drive (not the F drive), and it should format the drive. Make sure anything in C: is backed up to F: or elsewhere, because all data on C will be lost. Afterward, Vista should detect your XP installation on F: and allow you to choose between both OSs next time you restart.

I don't know, does it really matter if you've got it sorted with a reinstall?

VGA cord is your monitor cord, since it is analog a broken/bent/misaligned pin will throw off the color.

I am still having some doubts...

  • Monitor screen is becoming pale yellow even now some times. It's not permanently ,but frequently it's changing to yellow. I think it's the problem with power fluctuation.I am not using UPS.
  • I am using the system for 12 hours a day with short intervals . 4 hrs +2 hrs Rest + 4 hrs + 2 Hrs Rest +4 Hrs .In this 4 hrs too i am giving rest for 5Min for every 2 hrs .Is it the cause for system halt?
  • Is there any chance of getting virus through ISP .

If you were having problems with power the video card would shut off. It would not turn a color. Again, something is physically broken on the pin, or your monitor color balance is off.

Any usage pattern is fine, leave it on all day if you want.

All internet traffic comes through your ISP, so technically any viruses come "through" your ISP, but that doesn't really tell you anything meaningful.

Just poke around in the settings of the monitor. If you have another computer, you can always try hooking it up to the monitor and see if it's yellow too. But I remember back when I was using VGA on an old CRT monitor, if I accidentally nudged the cord, often a pin would become disconnected and the whole screen would turn yellow.

You could check the temperatures of the system to make sure, but generally speaking, most systems run well below the temperatures they can run in the first place, so even when it's really hot, it should be okay. If you say what processor is in the system (Intel or AMD), I can link you to a program that will read temperatures for you.

And nope, that guy probably just wants something to blame his virus problem on :) The easiest way of getting viruses is to download malicious programs, like pirating software or installing suspicious sounding "antivirus" programs (this is pretty big nowadays). If you avoid banner ads, use a secure browser like Firefox, and are a little cautious in what you download and run, you probably won't ever have a virus or malware problem.
