| Last week we had a power cut and my computer shutdown . After a reboot windows started up as if it was a new operating system ... no user names .. no outlook e.t.c . The Icons are there but it says the software is not installed ! I checked out my hard drive on the properties and it still shows 18gb used so i guess the data is still there but hidding somewhere ......... I did try to do a system restore to the dates provided but it does no let me click onto any dates ....... The computer is a HP running on XP ...any ideas or software i could possible use to try to fix the problem .... Many thanks Richard |

| Hi Dave ... I did as you asked but it found nothing wrong . If i go into Explorer all the different USERS are listed and there data i.e pictures for example are all there but if you switch users it's like having a new PC with adm and guest only showing . I found Microsoft Outlook in the Office Folder but when you try to run it it comes up with Mapi32.dll If i try to open Word it says that Word has not been installed for the present user ...... I feel as if the computer is logged on to a user that should not be on the PC . Krgds Rich |
