Default Porblems with installing programs in WinXP After powershutdowns a

Hi all,

about a week ago I had some power shutdowns that wiped out my C: drive.
I formatted the system and installed Windows XP sp2 with all updates and some anti virus.

since then I had some problems with some programs...

For example: Cubase 3, and guitar rig, The installation gets stuck in the middle or In some cases I'm able to fully perform the installation but when I try to start the program I get this "send/don't send" error after a few seconds.

What should I do?

Because you recently did a clean install I'd make sure all your drivers are up to date.

In particular your sound drivers.

If you are certain you have a good install of XP from a genuine disk, with all drivers installed and are sure you are free from Malware ..... then erratic results could be the result of bad RAM, especially if the problems are not consistent.

Did XP install easily or did you need more than one attempt ? is this a genuine copy of XP ?

A power shut down wiped you c: drive? That sounds rather random to me, but could it be that the power shut down damaged other hardware? Have you checked your ram as recommended avbove? And do run chkdisk as well.

Get memtest86 or memtest86+ and make a bootable floppy or cd and you should be ready to go.
Chkdsk can be run by right clicking the drive going into properties and looking for chkdsk. Select all options. It'll ask you to reboot.
