Hi Guys,
This is my first post so i thought id start with a likely stupid question and work up from there.
Im running windows vista ultimate for starters, despite the bad press ive had hardly a problem with it in 7 months. Been building/repairing pc's for over 10 years in my spare time so im hardly a 'noob'.
Problem im having is this, im running a master (primary) hdd with vista ultimate installed and a slave (secondary) hdd with no operating system on, its been formatted and is used to store all my media i.e 60gb of music, 250gb of videos etc...
I initially had my music stored on my master then after formatting my slave so it was ready to store my media, copied my music folder over, i dont like to have my valuable stuff on the same hdd as my o.s, old habit.
I did the same with my games folder, my videos folder and so forth so i had 2 copies of everything, 1 on my master 1 on my slave.
Ok im at the point , i dont want or need 2 copies of everything so i went to my docs folder on my master hdd and deleted my music folder (for starters) but i noticed that vista also deleted the same folder, my music, from my slave drive, it does this with every folder now, i tried renaming one of the folders but it renames both by default,
i opened both my music folder (in my docs master hdd) and my music folder on my slave hdd in split screen so i can view both folders on both drives and when i delete one the other deletes also.
im ready to format my master hdd just for a spring clean, again old habit i do it every few months, but im worried if i format my master itll delete all the stuff on my slave which of course i dont want to happen, i can of course unplug my slave while i format my master hdd but i still want to know why these drives seem to be linked in such way, this is a new pc i built just a few months ago and is all sata2 which was new to me (no more ribbon cables yay) is this relevent?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you got your hard drives set up as raid drives, this mirrors your data between the 2 drives and any changes happen to both drives, check your bios and see if your sata drives are in raid format or hot plug (non raid), if you have it set to raid try the other option in the bios and test again

There are instructions at

http://www.thundercloud.net/informat.../my-documents/

on how to move My Documents.

It sounds to me as though you have created a shortcut to My Pictures, etc rather than move these folders.

TweakUI just says to right drag and Move the folders, no mention of problems!
