Turned my computer on this morning and there was a reminder on it that there were updates for windows service pack three that needed updating.I then clicked on the icon and completed the necessary update.I was then instructed to restart my computer which I did and windows has failed to start up ever since.I get options on the screen one of which is start up normally and another one tells me to sart up with a method that has already proved successful.Still doesn't start up.Any ideas welcomed.
Thank you

Can you boot into Safe mode ? .... if so, you could try a System Restore, to a date prior to the problem.

Thanks Phil, you'll have to forgive me as I am for from a computer genius and living proof of the saying, "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing"I can start up in Safe mode and I was afraid to opt for system repair as I am frightened it will wipe things off that I have installed.System was working fine yesterday. Can you advise?
Thanks again

Go right ahead and repair if you like, no problem there.

Alternatively, on Start-->All programs-->Accessories-->System Tools-->System Restore you can reversibly put back the clock to a time when the PC was still working. Then find out what was wrong!
