| I was having a virus on my computer, i installed avast 4.8, it detected some memory has infected, so it said do u want to have a boot time schedule scan, i said yes then it restarted the computed but now my computer is hanging at last screen when icons comes, I mean icons are not coming on my desktop and it is logging off again and again automatically... I also tried to boot in safe mode but same problem..... what should i do....????? And i also want to ask that if condition comes that i have to reinstall my XP then can download it from internet and format my computer and install that copy of XP...???? and i also dont have motherboard cd.... can i do the same as i have written above that download drivers form internet sumwhere internet cafe and install them.... Kindly help... thanks in advance........ |

| If you boot and hold the shift key down solidly from when the XP boot graphic appears to when you reach the desktop it ought to stop all the startup packages from running, if you're lucky that will include Avast. I wouldn't bet on it though. If it works you can remove what's giving you a problem.

I've not seen a download XP which didn't have a trojan payload preinstalled, it's not a clean way of fixing your problem. Have you considered the limitless delights of Open Source and the educational possibilities of linux? | As I just posted in another post seconds ago, you can legally download an image of XP. Using a key that isn't yours is illegal, use the downloaded XP image and your own license key, this is fine. |

| NOw i got a new problem ......... My system doesnt boot completly it stops at desktop, i mean to say that icons and task bar is not loading........ what could be the problem and how can i rectify that..???????? |

| You could open task manager, click new process and type Explorer.exe then see what happens |
