Hello - I'm currently using a Dell Optiplex 755.

-Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2
-Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz
-8 GB of RAM (only 3 GB appears)

I have "Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Edition - for Upgrade Use Only (Product Key Required)"

When I insert the disc and open from My Computer, I get this error:
"Setup can not run on this version of the Operating System. To install Windows please try booting from the install media."

I inserted the disc and restarted the computer, but it did not begin the installation.

What can I do to fix this problem?

Thanks for reading.

Restart your PC and boot from the install CD, you do not run it from within your current Windows.

Restart your PC with the CD in the drive, a message should show soon after power on asking if you wish to boot from CD and to press a key.

Restart and get into your BIOS, then set your CD as the 1st boot device in the boot order.

Also, F8 or F12 (one if boot device one is boot mode on most computers) usually allows you to select boot device.
