 Problems installing Vista - Install stops at 27%

i have a windows vista home premium solfware disk and have tried repeatedly to install vista on my computer, current os is windows xp sp3. the program runs does ok until it starts expanding files, when it gets about 27% a message pops up and says unable to modify boot ...

Problems installing Vista - Install stops at 27%
i have a windows vista home premium solfware disk and have tried repeatedly to install vista on my computer, current os is windows xp sp3. the program runs does ok until it starts expanding files, when it gets about 27% a message pops up and says unable to modify boot files installation has stoped. any ideas on what to do?

Could be the CD or your hard drive, is the CD new? or a burned CD?

Problems installing Vista - Install stops at 27%
Only use 1 stick of RAM during installation - preferably 1 stick of 1 GB.
