Default Problems reinstalling Windows XP Pro

I had the I386 problem with XP Pro SP2.

I think (was a while ago now) a new copy of XP solved it.

I was originally using an XP Pro SP2 copy, and I simply slipstreamed SP2 into XP and burnt another copy.

Worked fine.

When you say Slipstreamed, do you mean make another copy of the windows CD?

Would a copy of the disc I'm using now possibly solve my problems?

Like I said your disc is 99% knackered, if you get a box up during install asking where the files are then that is because the PC cannot read the disc.

Why can't you delete your own posts on this board? I posted this in the wrong place and then can't find a way to delete it

Default Problems reinstalling Windows XP Pro

Hi, I've had this problem a few times - due to dirty or scratched discs. I have backed up the whole XP cd onto my pc as an iso, so when the disc gets knackered, i can just create a new one.

Also sometimes the optical drive can be the 'dodgy' thing, especially when using relatively old cd/dvd drives.

Best bet is a new copy of the disc. and keep a backup in a safe place!
